Wedding Magic at The Oaks Golf Course, Carshalton: A South London Photographer’s Dream
Nestled within the picturesque surroundings of Carshalton, The Oaks Golf Course is a lovely wedding venue, teeming with the effervescence of love and festivity, with some wonderful gardens and grounds for shot opportunities. As a South London wedding photographer, it was indeed a privilege to capture the essence of this enchanting day.
Details and Keepsakes
Our bridal prep shoot was very close to home, in my neighbouring borough of Bromley in South London at the Brides family home. The bride and her bridesmaids were resplendent with white and purple hand bunches. As a token of appreciation, the bridesmaids were gifted necklaces, while the groomsmen received pocket watches and socks.
South London Wedding Venue and Decor
The Oaks, with its sprawling golf course, provided the perfect canvas for an elegant countryside wedding. Cadbury purple and royal blue hues served as the overarching colour scheme, with the ceremony and reception both held in this idyllic setting. Mood and LED lighting illuminated the event space, evoking an ambiance of warmth and sophistication.
In a nod to simplicity, the reception tables were adorned with quaint fairy lights inside bottles, set upon mirrored surfaces. Complementing this decor were Cadbury purple chocolates and scattered flower petals, creating a visually appealing feast for the eyes. And for an added touch of whimsy, balloons stood proud beside the buffet table, and the wedding cake was a three-tiered white lemon marvel, embellished with blue ribbons, purple and white flowers, and a unique cake topper showcasing the couple wielding weapons – a playful twist to the classic decor.
The Ceremony
The ceremony was succinct, yet profoundly touching. The registrar officiated the momentous occasion, from the warm welcome to the heartfelt exchange of vows and the official signing of documents. The moment was encapsulated in a series of stunning photographs, capturing the emotion and love shared between the couple.
Post-Ceremony Magic
Post the solemnizations, the vast expanse of The Oaks’ golf course played host to some truly remarkable photographs. The gazebo in the shaded area of the garden was wonderful as a backdrop for our group photos, and the rolling greens, juxtaposed against the setting sun’s golden glow, resulted in breathtaking captures, particularly during golden hour.

A wedding as spectacular as this cannot come together without the unwavering support of friends and family. Special thanks to Gill and Steve Spencer for not just helping organize the event but also generously bearing its expenses. The delightful wedding cake was a labour of love by Gill, with Laura White aiding in its assembly.
For the floral magic, kudos to the Beckenham Flower Studio. Natasha Quinton was the fairy godmother behind the impeccable hair and makeup, and finally, The Oaks Golf Club proved to be the perfect venue choice.
