I offer documentary style wedding photography in Sussex, Surrey, Kent, London and the South of England. I provide documentary style wedding photography using a creative and fun approach, to help you feel relaxed whilst being photographed. I’m also more than happy to travel further to any part of the UK and beyond! I like to be very subtle and discreet, shooting documentary style wedding photography and capturing candid, natural moments as they happen throughout the day, blending into the background of the wedding festivities.

I’ve worked in the wedding industry for over 15 years and photographed over 200 weddings and I’ve learnt what works well to integrate documentary style wedding photography into the wedding day. I will be happy to chat to you about timings of the day and offer any advice you need about your documentary style wedding photography and can recommend some great suppliers, depending on your style of wedding. 

We will work together to get great photographs of you both, capture all the details of your day and even line up the family for a few (in) formal shots. I also want you to have time with your guests and loved ones whilst I work, and for photography to not take over your day. In documentary style wedding photography, I always want my couples to have plenty of time with their wedding guests, whilst I capture all of your wedding details and candid shots of you and your wedding guests.

When you hire me as your relaxed wedding photographer, we’ll plan the photography as a part of the day, but the informal photography won’t interfere with the rest of your wedding plans. We’ll work together to get beautiful pictures of you both, capturing all the details of your wedding day as well as getting the family together for a few formal (or informal) group shots.

Everything is very informal and I won’t order you around or pose you like a supermodel. But when the light is perfect and using the beautiful surroundings you’ve chosen for your wedding, I’ll capture awesome photographs of you both together. I usually place people into a beautiful place, and then ask them to just do their own thing and enjoy each other’s company; it’s important for me that you feel relaxed and happy in your photographs and everything feels natural.

Documentary style wedding photography requires a little bit of planning…

We’ll plan your documentary style wedding photography into the schedule of the day, and I’ll be keeping an eye on the light and the weather, and when golden hour begins or perhaps, we get a quick downpour, I’ll capture awesome photographs of you both together in an amazing atmosphere.  I love being a wedding photographer and using predominantly natural light wherever possible, but I also use flash and studio lighting to ensure excellent exposure as well as for capturing indoor wedding photographs, shots in wet weather, creative opportunities at night and the first dance. I love the amazing light at the golden hour or sunset, but I enjoy working in challenging wet weather too!
