Philip Bedford

Hello! Nice to meet you!

I'm Phil, and I love being a professional wedding photographer. I’m primarily a London & Sussex wedding photographer covering the majority of East & West Sussex, Kent and Surrey (and I'm happy to travel all over the UK and occasionally even elsewhere in Europe) – although I also offer baby and family portraits, event photography and landscapes.

My family originally hails from Kent, though I’ve spent the last 10 years living in Sussex and recently moved to London with my wonderful wife Katie and our son, Ronan. I love living in London, but I do miss the countryside, so I always relish the opportunity to travel around shooting weddings in Southern England.

I’ve been professional wedding photographer for more than 15 years – and before that I started as a budding college student, studying for my BA in Editorial Photography at Brighton University, then eventually becoming a freelance professional wedding photographer in Sussex. I now also work as an event, portrait and commercial photographer for clients in London, Surrey, Kent and throughout the South East of England, as well as spending some of my time tutoring photography at Croydon Adult Learning And Training & Bromley Adult Education College,.

Andy Lambert - Video

Hi, I'm Andy, Phil's Videographer. Originally from Surrey, I'm now lucky enough to call the picturesque town of Lewes my home. Being a wedding videographer is not just a passion for me, it’s a privilege. I create bespoke wedding films that celebrate the uniqueness of every couple, embracing a candid, documentary style to capture both formal and spontaneous moments as they naturally unfold. My goal is to let you and your guests fully enjoy the day while I capture and preserve the memories. By interlacing ceremony and speech audio with carefully chosen licensed music, I strive to deliver films that genuinely reflect the atmosphere, energy, and emotion of your special day.

My creative side emerged through playing drums at an early age, eventually leading to a move to London in 2013 with my band. Between busy bar shifts, local gigs, and travels across Europe and Asia, I gradually honed my photography skills and built a strong portfolio of work. By 2018, the call of fresh sea air and promise of open spaces led me to the south coast, where my passion for visual storytelling truly took off. When I’m not filming or editing, you’ll find me exploring local walking routes or experimenting in the kitchen, almost always accompanied by my favorite history, politics, and sports podcasts. I still play the drums, mostly as an excuse to reconnect with old friends. And I still love to travel, solo or otherwise, whenever I can squeeze it in!

Sussex Professional Wedding Photographer

About me

How it all started: My career as a professional wedding photographer...

I enjoy every moment of being a professional wedding photographer and running my own photography business. I love seeing how imaginative people can be when planning their weddings, but my favourites are usually those with a big marquee or a festival vibe where I can use the spectacular South East England countryside as a backdrop.

I also really enjoy teaching, it keeps my skills and industry knowledge razor sharp, and I love passing my knowledge onto others. You can book courses and workshops in photography and I also run photography workshops out in the hills and beaches of Sussex with the Royal Photographic Society and I've recently achieved my LRPS (Licentiate award) with the RPS. So, I'm hoping all that may convince you that I'm a good enough professional wedding photographer - but check out my work and judge for yourself!

And when I'm not shooting weddings...

If I'm not in a suit at a wedding, then you'll usually find me running around after our wonderful son, Ronan or when I'm lucky enough to escape - in the countryside shooting some landscape photography! You can view my other photography work at my sister website: www.philipbedford.co.uk

With most of my wedding photography taking place on Saturdays, I like to spend my Sunday taking my son Ronan to football in the mornings, and if I get the occasional weekend off, I love climbing hills and walking in the countryside, taking snaps of the rolling landscape as I go. I also love cooking/food/drinks etc… vegetarian food – as well as real ale and craft beer, a good bottle of wine (preferably Côtes du Rhône, but usually my wife wants to drink Sauvignon Blanc). I’m also lucky enough to have my own kayak so I sometimes pop out for a paddle down a river or on a lake. I also love bouldering, camping trips, video games, bike rides, nerdy history books, 80s/90s music and travelling the world with my wife.

I also love hanging out with my awesome wife who is the best (and definitely didn’t write this herself)
