Westonbirt School Wedding
There are weddings, and then there are Westonbirt School Wedding moments etched in time, woven with elegance and charm, like a beautiful melody resonating through the ages. Today, let me take you on a journey through a wedding at Westonbirt School, where love found its perfect backdrop amidst the lush greenery and historical charm.
Picture this: A Westonbirt School Wedding, set within 210 acres of parkland grounds and a breathtaking mansion built over 150 years ago, stands as a canvas waiting to be painted with the hues of love and celebration. Nestled in the heart of nature, it offers an idyllic setting, perfect for immortalising every moment through the lens. Those who know me well, will know that I grew up near this wedding venue, and the wedding was in the church of my old hometown of Malmesbury – and Rebecca, the bride, was in my class at school!
Malmesbury Abbey Wedding Ceremony
Our Westonbirt School wedding day began with wedding prep at the Old Bell Hotel (I once worked here on weekends in the kitchen during my last year of school) and we photographed the dress handing up and hair and makeup in a quaint hotel room in this historic building. I also met Antony briefly at the pub, and grabbed a few shots with his groomsmen in the church grounds before heading back to capture Rebecca as she put on her amazing wedding dress, true to the style of the art deco theme.
From the moment the bride walked down the aisle of Malmesbury Abbey in a ceremony filled with reverence and love, to the laughter and joy echoing through the reception, every frame exuded a candid elegance. The Abbey is a stunning building, with history dating back over 1000 years and it used to be triple the size that it is today!
The couple’s choice of an Art Deco theme, with colours reminiscent of opulence – bottle green, gold, and oyster – added a touch of timeless glamour to the affair. We captured a few portraits around the grounds of the Abbey, as well as the family group photographs in the main entrance to the church, before heading to meet the wedding car and driver. Rebecca & Antony had a Siddeley Laudaulette to transport them from the Market Cross in Malmesbury to their Westonbirt School Wedding.
Westonbirt School Wedding Reception
As the guests mingled during the canapés, they were treated to a unique experience by Alison Russell, the silhouette artist, capturing their profiles in delicate paper. The ambiance was further enhanced by the soulful tunes of the gramophone, transporting everyone to a bygone era of romance and sophistication.
For entertainment, guests indulged in outdoor wooden games, adding a playful charm to the celebration. Meanwhile, children delighted in their activity packs, a thoughtful touch that added to the inclusivity of the day.
Amidst the floral arrangements by Persephone Violet, with green and gold photo frames adorning the memory table, every detail spoke of a couple’s love for each other and their commitment to creating a meaningful celebration. Not forgetting the heartfelt gesture of donating to Animals Asia, a testament to their compassion and love for all beings.
But what’s a celebration without a delectable treat? The Art Deco-inspired cake, crafted by The Cake Architect, stood as a masterpiece, a sweet crescendo to an evening filled with love and laughter.
So, to all the couples dreaming of a wedding that transcends time and trends, consider Westonbirt School as your canvas, where every moment is a masterpiece waiting to be captured. The grounds are stunning, and we got some great photographs in the Italian garden, and on the terrace in front of the grand historic mansion.
