A few preview photos at Laura & Darren’s wedding at the St Margaret The Queen Church on the Buxted Park estate in East Sussex. The ceremony was at 4pm in November, so when we came out of the church it was dark! Using a lot of off-camera flash, I managed to get these shots in the dark winter night.
Two flashes were needed for these shots, one behind the couple lighting them, and the tree behind in the shot below, and the other spreading an around light in the foreground. I used a wide open aperture to capture some of the ambient light from the lantern and the sunset below.
This shot required a slow shutter speed to capture enough of the moon (and even a few stars), again with a wide open aperture to let in as much available light as possible. These shots were taken at Eridge village hall where the wedding reception was held after the ceremony.
Finally, we used some fairy lights right up against the camera to bokeh them out in front of the lens and a single flash firing against this wall to create the silhouette. View more weddings on the blog here.
