A few preview photos of Alistair and Sarah’s wedding at Dale Hill Hotel in Ticehurst, East Sussex. The weather was not on our side on Saturday but I enjoyed the challenge of shooting indoors and with some light rain in the shots
This shot used the doorway looking out over the course and surrounding landscape and a some off-camera flash to illuminate the foreground. The shot below didn’t use the flash, to give a bit more contrast to the black and white image.
Using more flash inside, the backlighting of one flash behind the couple helped illuminate their profile against this chandelier. A telephoto lens with a wide aperture helped to compose the chandelier as the main feature in the background and create the bokeh pattern behind. Below, I used a flash with a snoot to create a spotlight effect and underexpose the background to help them stand out on this staircase.
And finally, we got a couple of great shots in the light rain once it got dark. I always find I end up taking these shots in car parks, but it works so well, and of course, the backlighting and exposure means that you don’t see any of the car park!
