Firle Place Wedding Photography – East Sussex Wedding Photographer – Firle Place Weddings – St Peter’s Church Firle
I love shooting Weddings at Firle Place, a beautiful venue underneath Firle beacon, near Lewes in East Sussex. Firle Place offers multiple options for your wedding, with a large dining hall for the wedding reception or the south lawn where you can have a marquee on the otherwise of the main building. Firle is a quaint village, and St Peter’s Church sits right next to the Firle Estate and features in both of these weddings.
St Peter’s Church in Firle
St Peter’s Church in Firle is the church of the rather famous vicar, Peter Owen Jones, who conducts his ceremonies with wonderful flair. The church is bright and allows a little bit of flexibility for photographer’s who want to be able to adjust their position a couple of times during the ceremony. Check out Anna Karin & Rob’s wedding, which can be viewed on the blog here.
The Church grounds are surrounded in greenery and wildflowers, the gate entrance is beautifully framed with trees either side next to a country lane leading to the Firle Estate. There’s ample space for confetti photos and a love tree where guests are invited to wrap ribbons on the branches bearing the couple’s names.
There is a long, narrow footpath leading up to St Peter’s church entrance from the main village, and on either side there are small hedges, which was great for a few photographs of the bride and groom before heading to the wedding reception.
This is where the weddings divert slightly. Next to the church, there is a large room used as a dining hall used for the wedding breakfast, but Claudia & Alex (above) had their wedding reception on the other side of the building in a marquee on the south lawn.
The dining hall is adorned with fairy lights in the ceiling, perfect for some indoor photography if it starts to rain and beautiful for the first dance and evening entertainment.
The Firle Estate Walled Garden
The walled garden sits at the foot of the South Downs, and is filled with wildflowers. A couple of mown areas of lawn create walkways through the garden and the flint walls are a beautiful backdrop for wedding photographer’s to use!
The front of Firle Place is incredibly grand! Even when it rained, we still got some great photography using the green background of the trees and fields around the estate.
After a spot of rain at Anna-Karin & Robert’s wedding, we explored some of the Firle Estate at sunset, capturing some dramatic clouds over the fields, and you can see a few sheep in the background.
