A Springtime Wedding at Pangdean Barn
Spring weddings in Sussex are always a joy, and this one at Pangdean Barn was full of personality, heartfelt touches, and four-legged friends – Ava the dog and Tom the horse! Even with a few April showers (in May), nothing dampened the happiness of the day.
The morning began with relaxed bridal prep, where the bride got ready in her stunning white gown from Amelias Bridal, surrounded by her bridesmaids in soft pale pink. Meanwhile, the groomsmen wore stone, with the groom standing out in a green suit and stone waistcoat. It was the perfect fresh, spring colour palette, paired beautifully with florals in shades of cream, pink and white by Sussex Roses.
Capturing the Magic: A Pangdean Barn Autumn Wedding
My latest Pangdean Barn spring wedding (I’ve photographed a fair few in my career so far). Spring weddings hold a special charm, and Angela & Marty’s beautiful Pangdean Barn Spring Wedding was wonderful.
A Barn Wedding Ceremony
The couple had their ceremony under the twinkling fairy lights of Pangdean Barn. Their dog Ava proudly trotted down the aisle as part of the ceremony, and two close friends gave heartfelt readings.
After the “I dos,” guests gathered by Pangdean’s rose arch for the confetti moment — a joyful shower of pink and white petals that looked incredible against the backdrop of the gardens.
Pangdean Barn Spring Wedding Reception
One of the highlights of the day was seeing Ava and Tom, the bride’s beloved horse, join in for the couple portraits. Care was taken to make sure Tom’s ears were forward and he was perfectly positioned for the camera, which was a bit of a challenge considering the weather forecast – but we got some really unique wedding portraits that truly reflected the couple’s life together. Ava stole the show too — featuring in photos framed with bouquets, as well as a sweet paw-on-hands shot with the rings.
Later, the couple made the most of Pangdean’s gardens with a break in the weather, and the wildflowers around the barn added a pop of summer despite the overcast skies. The rustic barns, and South Downs views were great for their portraits — and we even got a dramatic rainy photo just after the speeches.
The main barn looked stunning with Pangdean’s rustic décor, softened with jars of flowers from the ceremony. Guests found their places with personalised wildflower seed packets as favours, a thoughtful touch that tied perfectly with the countryside setting. In the lobby, printed photographs of the couple welcomed guests — a personal glimpse into their story – including some shots from their engagement photo shoot earlier in the year.
Instead of a traditional wedding cake, they opted for a cheese tower featuring French Brie, Godminster Cheddar, Cashel Blue and Baby Garlic Yarg, topped with a personalised wooden decoration. A creative twist that looked fantastic and was enjoyed by all.
As evening fell, the barn came alive with music from Trip for Biscuits, a seven-piece band who performed modern hits with a 1920s twist. They even played the couple’s first dance, setting the tone for a lively night on the dance floor.
