Victoria and David’s stunning summer wedding at Grittenham Barn in West Sussex. I started this wedding photography shoot with some bridal prep at a nearby house in West Sussex with Victoria and the bridesmaids. We got some great candid moments of them getting ready as well as a beautiful shot of the wedding dress hanging up in black-and-white, which I LOVE, it’s a really stunning minimalist design.
Grittenham Barn Wedding Ceremony
I then headed over to Grittenham Barn for a few photographs of the guests arriving and the groomsmen before the wedding ceremony took place in the barn. Victoria arrived in a beautiful Morgan as a surprise for David, and this made a stunning showpiece for photos later.
After the wedding ceremony, we got a couple of confetti photographs before wandering around to the other side of the barn to capture a couple of shots of the couple in the West Sussex countryside. After some group photographs and shots of the wedding breakfast room, we went for a walk around the gardens of Grittenham Barn.
The decor was quite simple, with a flower chandelier above the ceremony, a decorated ceremony table and on tables some flowers in jam jars on log slices. The flowers were baby’s breath, eucalyptus, white roses and alstromeria, and they had chosen rose petals for confetti and had small hessian bags of pick n mix sweets
Grittenham Barn Gardens
Last time I was here, some temperamental weather prevented us from getting shots of the lake, so I was pleased to finally be able to do this photo shoot on the small jetty by the pond. Victoria and David were absolute naturals in front of the camera, and I really appreciated the assistance of Rachel the bridesmaid giving us a hand with the veil and even holding a light for me.
After dinner and speeches the sun started to set over the fields of West Sussex, and we were treated to a magnificent sunset which I was able to enhance with a little bit of off-camera flash to ensure even exposure in these portraits. I also always use off-camera flash for the first dance at weddings and I was really pleased with the first dance photos in the barn shortly afterwards.
