A few preview photographs from Matt & Hannah’s wedding at The Long Barn at Shotters Farm in Hampshire. This weekend has been an absolute scorcher, with blazing sunshine all day at this countryside wedding near Winchester.
The Long Barn has a small private pond where we began taking some photographs amongst the tall pine evergreen trees, and to get a bit of shade from the heat! The water was so still that these reflections were almost perfect!
A lot of our photographs were a combination of staged and candid. I’d place them together in an area and largely they’d do their own thing with lots of fun, smiles and silliness involved. Walking shots through the quiet woodland at the back fo the barn were perfect for this.
We had a terrific golden hour on the slopes of the hills in Hampshire, and with clear skies, the landscape was bathed in golden sunlight for the last hour fo the day. We took a stroll through an adjacent field, which although it had been disappointingly harvested a couple of weeks earlier, meant that we could really explore the landscape of the field and concentrate on long shots using the sky as a backdrop for a composition technique known as ‘figure to ground’.
Finally, I couldn’t resist experimenting with the fairy lights in the long barn, and because it has such a greta length, the bokeh in this shot uses all the lights at the other end of the barn to create this beautiful pattern. A little off camera flash just helped them stand out a little in the background.
